Iran war: Israel-Lebanon ceasefire strained by new border military strikes | FOX 10 Phoenix

Tensions are rising once again along the Israel-Lebanon border as Israel vows stronger military action against Hezbollah. This escalation comes despite a U.S.-brokered ceasefire reached last month. According to The Associated Press, a U.S. State Department official says that the Islamist militant group continues to ignore warnings to stop attacks on Israel.

Israeli officials report that Hezbollah has launched more than a thousand drones and hundreds of rockets since the truce took effect. Overnight, the Israeli military targeted multiple Hezbollah sites in Lebanon after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised to intensify strikes. 12 people in a Lebanese village were killed as a result of the attack. Netanyahu adds that Israel will respond with a, quote: "overwhelming force" -- following the use of new fiber-optic drones that he says are harder to intercept. The escalation has now raised new fears in the region, with some residents along the border reportedly evacuating following Netanyahu's latest threats.

Meanwhile, debate is growing inside Israel over how to handle the broader conflict, with some political leaders supporting expanding military operations while others call for more diplomacy. And those divisions extend to ongoing talks between the U.S. and Iran, with some Israeli leaders now warning that a potential deal with Tehran could threaten Israel's security and may not prevent future conflict in the Middle East.
