Naruto, One Piece, and Dragon Ball Z are all shone anime that fall into the same general tropes that the genre has bred. Mob Psycho 100 is a Shonen Anime that subverts these archetypes of the Shonen genre by giving Mob a choice to not use his powers. This subversion helps Mob Psycho 100 to differentiate itself from the other shonen shows and is the sole reason it has such an intensely gripping story.
