Your step by step troubleshooting quide for stretching tough lips 👄 brought to you by Carla!

It’s so normal to have trouble when stretching lips and let’s face it.... they’re all different and can be very unpredictable when it comes to texture!

Luckily for you.. I’ve been working with lips for a while and struggled just like you. I have mastered a stretch that just about works with all lips especially the tough ones, even with my tiny hands 😆

1. Make sure to work in small sections

2. Lips are NOT SKIN! They are modified mucous membrane tissue. Not having a firm taught surface to work on can create unnecessary trauma and excessive swelling.

3. Make sure you are able to have the needle impact the surface at 90 degrees regardless of where you are working on the surface.

4. Remember you can move the lip to where you need it to be. Stretching dosent mean it has to stay sill. You are just keeping the surface taught and free of feature.

5. Use natural volume to your advantage by keeping it under your working area.

6. Work with support. I’ve been tattooing with cotton round under my stretching thumb since day one. It keep me from slipping but more importantly absorbs excess pigment, applies pressure (ever been waxed) and give me a good marker for where to return to as I continue to work for that blended overlap 😘
