Great Paul, the Bourdon Bell of St Paul's Cathedral

Well. This is something I have always wanted to hear ever since discovering this bell on Steven Rowe's YouTube channel. Great Paul, the bourdon bell of St Paul's Cathedral in London and Great Britain's largest swinging bell. It weighs 17,002kg (334-2-19cwt) and rings out the note of Eb. At 17:15, the 61-2-2cwt ring of twelve bells join in and boom out with Great Paul. Great Paul was cast in 1881 by the John Taylor and Co. foundry of Loughborough, Leicestershire. Its casting mould can still be seen in a local park to this day. The bell took a two week long journey before being winched up the south tower of the cathedral. It is hung on a huge arched headstock with a counterweighted clapper for slow swinging. This is the second time (after the 09:20am ringing, which I also recorded) it has sounded for an estimated 15 years! And my oh my does it sound fantastic. This time the 61cwt twelve in the north tower joined in as well, and for a few minutes Great Paul and the twelve rang together for the first time in who knows how long. It was spine chilling to listen to in person especially! I hope you enjoy watching this. It was fantastic to stand there and hear the sounds of the bells echoing off the buildings.
