BMW will let you pick from five generations of paint samples for this 1 of 500 limited edition M3.
BMW is has been well-loved for its M cars, and its high-performance M cars are well-loved for their vibrant paint colors. Lucky for us, five iconic BMW M paint jobs are making a comeback on the 2023 BMW M3 Edition 50 Jahre BMW M. For those of you who may not speak German, it's a new limited-edition BMW M3 celebrating 50 years since the start of the BMW M division back in 1972, and it's getting some of the best paint options ever put to metal.
The new limited edition M3, which is exclusive to North America with just 500 units, will be made available to order in five iconic paint finishes, one representing each generation of the M3 up until now. The E30's Cinnabar Red color, the E36's Techno Violet, the E46's Interlagos Blue, the E92's Fire Orange (initially only available on the Lime Rock Park Edition of that model), and finally the F80's Limerock Grey represent each generation of M3 on the new 50 Jahre Edition.
The new edition will only come in one "well-equipped" configuration, with few choices beyond the paint. It comes standard with a carbon fiber front splitter, M quad carbon-trimmed tailpipes, M Performance carbon fiber spoiler, a carbon fiber roof, and forged Orbit Grey matte wheels with either M Compound or optional Carbon Ceramic brakes, the former available in either red, blue, or black caliper finishes and the latter of which comes with gold-painted calipers. The exterior is also dotted with the throwback 1973 BMW Motorsport logos with the multicolored BMW Roundel motif on the hood, trunk, and wheel center caps.
Also included with the package is BMW's Executive and Parking Assistance features, adaptive LED Laserlight M Shadowline headlights, as well as carbon fiber trim and wireless device charging inside, along with the standard M3's updated iDrive 8 system and curved screen. There's a choice of standard M Sport seating or an optional upgrade to M Carbon bucket seats that are "track-ready," upholstered in black Merino leader. Whichever seats you choose, you'll get a unique seam pattern with M-color stitching, with the matching M-stripes on each of the headrests.
There's also "Edition 50 Jahre BMW M" inscriptions on the door sills and dashboard cupholder cover, and BMW has thrown in an entire custom suitcase in with the car, to match. The case is 42-liters and constructed of durable polycarbonate that's also lightweight, in case you forget to take it out of the trunk on your track day. BMW will begin production of the 500 limited edition cars this July, with a starting price of $96,695 including destination.
