F117A Stealth Fighter Disintegrates on Camera

Major Bryan Knight was finishing his act during the Chesapeake Air Show near Baltimore in September of 1997 when suddenly his aircraft broke apart.

The skilled pilot quickly tried to point his F-117 Nighthawk fighter towards the water, but there was nothing he could do to change the trajectory of the plummeting machine.

Footage taken that day shows that seconds before impacting the ground, Knight ejected as almost 12,000 spectators witnessed the fighter crash behind the treetops of the Bowleys Quarters residential area.

Hundreds of elements from the police, fire departments, and military units then secured the area and evacuated the crowd and the surrounding houses.

After the shocking incident, further investigations would show that the potentially fatal catastrophe was attributed to a simple paperwork mistake…
