Your Text Messages Will Be Used in Divorce Court | Washington Family Law Tips

Your texts, emails, and social media posts can absolutely be used as evidence in your divorce case.

People often send emotionally charged messages late at night — messages they would never say in court or in a calm setting.

The problem? Those messages don’t disappear.

Before you send anything, ask yourself:
• Would I want a judge to read this?
• Would I want my spouse’s attorney to see this?
• Would I be okay with this being read out loud in court?

If the answer is no, don’t send it.

Assume everything you write could become evidence.
