In the heart of a mountain where the morning mist still settled on its slopes, a small but adventurous hut was exploding in a hidden silence. Ali, a man with a vague past and a heart that seemed never to beat for love, had one day kicked his first wife, Afsaneh, out of this hut. Afsaneh had left with silent tears, but her footprints were still left on the walls of the hut; where yesterday her caressing hand had rested, today the dust of Ali’s lovelessness had settled.
A few months later, Farideh came with her seven-month-old baby, perhaps with hope, perhaps with fear, but definitely with love in her eyes. But Ali’s hut was no longer a place for peace. The sound of a new fight rose, like a storm in a small teacup. Farideh also did not receive a share of affection; Ali became angry again, his hands neither knew how to caress nor hold.
At that moment, Sarmast, a shopkeeper from the same village, stepped onto the scene. A simple man, but with a sharp gaze. He had always been a fan of Afsaneh; his heart was with Ali's first wife, the woman who had proudly left and never returned. When Sarmast saw Ali and Farideh fighting, he immediately realized that this incident had its roots in Ali's own instability.
In a firm but not aggressive voice, he said, "Ali, you didn't want Afsaneh or Farideh. It's as if you only wanted the children born from these relationships, not the women themselves. You should have chosen one, not burned both."
Ali said nothing. Perhaps because he had nothing to say. Perhaps because the truth weighed heavily on Sarmast's voice. Sarmast, who no longer had any hope of reform, said goodbye quietly. He glanced briefly at Farida and her baby, nodded sadly, and left… He left to perhaps find a trace of the legend, a woman who had gone silently but still had a place in the hearts of many.And in that gray evening, Ali's hut was no longer just a dwelling place for bodies, not hearts.
