DIY AC Dump load controller for water turbine
This is my own design on a AC dump-load controller , I have a single phase AC water turbine (500W) in the river . Here in South Africa we use 230V AC at 50Hz , my 24V DC battery charger can support a voltage from 180V AC to 250V AC now the problem was as-soon as my battery bank is full the AC charger only consumes 10% of the power generated from the river , so then what happens is my voltage (AC) starts to climb to 310V AC and that would burn not only my charger but also the turbine itself ( there must be a constant load on the turbine otherwise it would turn too fast and burn its own coils )
