FULL War On Street Dogs By Supreme Court of India - Biggest Indian PUBLIC Reform #shorts

India is facing growing concern over rising rabies cases and dog-bite incidents, with recent Supreme Court hearings and health data bringing the issue back into national focus.

A major national debate has erupted in India after the Supreme Court of India delivered a strong recent judgment on the growing stray dog crisis across the country. The court refused to dilute its earlier directions ordering authorities to remove stray dogs from sensitive public spaces such as hospitals, schools, colleges, railway stations, bus depots, airports, and sports complexes. The judges said public safety, especially the safety of children and elderly citizens, cannot be ignored amid rapidly rising dog-bite incidents across India.

The Supreme Court’s comments came after alarming statistics were presented during hearings. Reports submitted before the court claimed that India continues to face millions of dog-bite cases every year, with states like Tamil Nadu and Karnataka reporting extremely high numbers in just the first few months of 2026. The bench described the situation as “deeply disturbing” and expressed frustration that many state governments had failed to build adequate sterilisation systems and animal birth control infrastructure despite repeated warnings.

The court also rejected petitions filed by several animal welfare groups and dog lovers who wanted modifications to earlier directions. The judges observed that governments had shown an “absence of sustained efforts” in controlling stray dog populations and ensuring public safety. As a result, the court said it would not change its stance regarding removal of stray dogs from highly crowded institutional and public areas.
