This talk is part of the #women_in_nlp talk series which invites women who successfully carved their career path in NLP to share their experiences and advice. Everyone is welcome to attend the talk not only women.
◾ Abstract:
Holding one or several marginalized identities in a male-dominated workspace is not easy. I will talk about how outreach, mentorship, and grassroots organizing have shaped my experience as a Ph.D. student in NLP, and what we all can do to make the NLP community more accessible and welcoming.

Sabine Weber is a 4th year Ph.D. student at the University of Edinburgh. She does research on multilingual entailment detection and is an organizer with Queer in AI.
