STOCKHOLM WALK 4K: Kungsträdgården 2021 May 1st, CHERRY BLOSSOMS

Kungsträdgården , also known as Kungsan , is a park on Norrmalm in Stockholm . It and Humlegården are the oldest preserved public parks in Stockholm. Here was once the castle Makalös . At that time, the park was a fenced garden where only the court had access. At the gates stood armed guards.
In Kungsträdgården, the Stockholm Exhibition was held in 1866 , which was Sweden's first international art and industry exhibition following a European pattern. In the park there are two statues of Swedish kings Charles XII with Charles XII's statue and Charles XIII with Charles XIII's statue . Between the statues is Molin's fountain and the elms that were the center of the Battle of Alm on May 12-13, 1971.
Parallel on the west side of Kungsträdgården is Västra Trädgårdsgatan , which stretches from Jakobsgatan in the south to Hamngatan in the north. Parallel to the east side of Kungsträdgården is Kungsträdgårdsgatan , which stretches from Strömgatan and Strömbron in the south to Hamngatan in the north. The western avenue has been called Jussi Björlings allé since 1998 and the eastern one since 2007 Birgit Nilsson's avenue .
Kungsträdgården has been owned by Stockholm Municipality since 1971 , but was run from 1953-2015 by Kungsträdgården Park & Evenemang AB, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce . From 1 October 2015, Kungsträdgården is run by the Cultural Administration in the city of Stockholm .
