Around noon today in Iceland a long line of vehicles formed up as residents of Grindavik were allowed to enter town for a few minutes to gather what they could from their homes. Scientists still believe an eruption is likely. As residents were quickly going thru their homes, nearby gas measuring equipment started picking up sulphur dioxide. The levels of sulphur dioxide caused the police chief to order everyone out of town. Video shows Grindavik at an allowed and safe distance with a helicopter helping to coordinate the evacuation. Sulphur Dioxide would likely only come from magma that is fairly high up in the crust and near the surface. All the roads remain closed into and near Grindavik and Blue Lagoon.
