Parabola Construction from Focus and Directrix
This video shows how to construct a parabola given the focus and directrix. I did this using my TI-Nspire.
This is actually kind of a Common Core State Standards (CCSS) topic. It's related to CCSS.Math.Content.HSG-GPE.A.2: Derive the equation of a parabola given a focus and directrix. I don't know if they're actually supposed to walk through the construction, but if you do it makes it a lot easier to understand where the equation comes from.
