Ilinskoe Manor is the only former Imperial estate in the Moscow region. 
Emperor Alexander II presented the estate to his wife Empress Maria Alexandrovna. At her insistence little was changed on the estate. Through her efforts though, a school and a hospital with a pharmacy were opened for peasants. 
After the death of Maria Alexandrovna (she died of tuberculosis in 1880), the estate went to her son, Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich, and became the favorite estate of his wife, the Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna   Romanov ( Holy Martyr Elizabeth).

Following the Revolution, the estate was "nationalised". In 1918 Lenin visited the former estate  after which a sanatorium was opened..
In 1929 the main house of the estate "burned down". 

Today sadly, very little remains of the former estate...
