VPC Endpoint and Endpoint Services #7
Hey, welcome back to the video! In this segment, we'll pick up where we left off and explore the concepts of AWS PrivateLink, VPC endpoint services, and VPC endpoint endpoints.
Currently, I have instances running in both an AWS SA exam VPC and a service VPC, with some instances in a public subnet and others in a private subnet. The public subnet instances act as jump boxes for SSH access into the private subnet instances.
Next, I'll access an instance in the public subnet of the service VPC and check if the HTTP server running on an instance in the private subnet is accessible.
To enhance connectivity, I'll create a Network Load Balancer (NLB) as it is a prerequisite for creating an endpoint service. Although I only have one public subnet here, in a production environment, you'd typically spread the NLB across multiple public subnets.
Once the NLB is set up, I'll create a target group and register the private instance with it. After a brief pause, I'll have the NLB configured and accessible via its DNS name.
Following this, I'll create an endpoint service in the VPC control, linking it to the NLB. Once the service is created, I'll access the AWS PrivateLink section, find the service by name, and create an endpoint.
After a short waiting period, the endpoint status will become available. I'll then SSH into an instance in the AWS SA exam VPC, route to an instance in the private subnet, and use cURL to test the connection to the service endpoint.
Voila! We successfully accessed the service without VPC peering or direct connection. If you enjoyed this walkthrough, please subscribe for more content. Stay tuned for additional insights and AWS tutorials! #AWS #PrivateLink #VPC #Tutorial
