A Tampa police officer’s body camera captured the terrifying moment he helped a choking toddler on April 24, as a man carrying the child screamed “he’s choking”.

In the footage, the officer and his colleagues can be seen jumping into action to help the child, who had choked on a tomato. The man is heard shouting “he can’t breathe” several times.

The officer places the boy over his knee and pats him on the back. After multiple attempts to get the food clear from the boy’s throat, he was finally able to spit it out.

“There it is,” a relieved officer is heard saying, pointing to the piece of food on the ground. The officer then lifts the boy up into his arms and asks him, “You alright?”

“What was it?” the boy is heard asking.

“It was a little tomato,” the officer replies.
