HDR PJ780 clearly has better picture quality and BOSS stabilisation. If its worth twice as much in weight and volume (and money) is up to you.

Both camcorders set to 1080 50p AVCHD full auto, edited on final cut pro X, exported directly to you tube. (Sony supplied wind sock over the PJ 780 mike.)
