2 unlikely places you can find REAL GOLD in a thrift store #thrifting #gold #reseller #howto

This week, I wanted to highlight some lesser known / appreciated objects from the thrift store and show you how much value can be hiding in plain sight!

I found this 1930's Celluloid marble fountain pen with a 14K Gold nib while digging and it got me thinking about objects of the past. A few days later, I came across a few pairs of antique round frame spectacles and something inside me said, "keep digging, there's more" and sure enough, these lovely little 12K Gold filled frames were uncovered moments later.

With the price of gold skyrocketing, you might be thinking about seeking some out for your collection/resale purposes. A common marking you'll see on antique Gold jewelry is "GF" meaning "Gold-Filled." Gold filling is a technique that bonds a solid gold layer to an alloy such as copper or brass. Much thicker and more durable than gold plating, I like to buy these pieces for everyday wear. It's not as commonly used for scrap as solid gold but it is possible, though you may lose a small portion of the gold content in the process.

Which object surprised you more, the pen or the glasses? I would love to hear your thoughts ❤️
