Dive With Me #1: Manta Point, Moofushi, Maldives (2024-01-13)

My first dive at Manta Point / Moofushi Rock / Bojaha Madi in the Maledives.

This was my 3rd logged dive, and my second dive in open water ever, on my first full-day diving trip. and also the second day of my SSI Open Water Diver training. And lastly also my first dive with the Insta360 X3.

There was a very strong current, which resulted in only very few Mantas present, and those few were struggling with the current as much as we did, so they didn't circle the actual Manta Point like they usually do, but rather stayed in more or less the same spot while waiting for cleaner fishes ... which seemed to struggle to get to the Mantas because of the current.

As this was one of my very first dives, my instructor volunteered to handle the camera until we got to a "safe" spot - so the first half of this video is actually rather "Dive With My Instructor", rather than "Dive With Me".

This is probably also the right time to give a shoutout to Charlotte "Charley" Williams from Joy Dive, Safari Island.
She is an amazing instructor and knew exactly how to handle my over-eagerness and impatience, but also had so much faith in my skill level after only the first day to already invite me to a full-day diving trip to do my training course dives in the wild.
