BEING HUMAN - A Poem for the 21st century

BEING HUMAN

All that I was
All that I am
All that I will be
A body of flesh, bone and blood
A mind like a roller coaster of highs and lows
A river of emotions ebbs and flows
Ability to see, hear, scent, feel and touch
A spirit that soars beyond this world.
We co create and exist with all life
Overcome challenges, serve those in need
United together we help one another
connect our hearts worldwide at lightning speed
Yet now we have a mountain to climb
A new threat to sentience we’ve given our power to
Hidden seduction, influencing our minds
Voices which tell us it’s all for our good
Where did human survival skills go
As technology blinds us to what we know
How did we get to this point of losing
The greatest power we haven’t even untapped
Being human much more than appearance
Quantum power lives in mind, body, spirit
Heartbreak watching humans discarded
A new era of tech marches unguarded
Minds in distress, identities debated
Machines dictating, creative lives disabled
Joy, love, laughter and tears
Dies off by the second with minds in fear
Please tell me I’m wrong, my tears are not warranted
being human will prevail
no longer then, a need for this tale.
