Trump says looting, violent protests has to stop, calls death of Black man "terrible"

U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday responded to questions about the sometimes violent protests and looting taking place in Philadelphia, Penn. following the police shooting death on Monday of Walter Wallace Jr., a 27-year-old Black man with mental health issues. He called on local authorities to stop the violence being seen during protests, but said if they ask for assistance they will respond quickly.

Trump went on to say the violence and looting cannot go on, before laying blame on Democrats, calling it a "Democrat-run state, a Democrat-run city," going on to say that the Republicans "don't have that."

He also said his government is looking into the shooting of Wallace Jr. Police say they were responding to calls about a man with a knife and fired several shots at Wallace from a distance. He later died in hospital that evening.
