IB TOK EXPLAINED Ep 2: Objectivity in the Natural Sciences

The focus in the second episode is the common claim that “natural sciences are objective”. Alexey explains why this is a gross oversimplification that contradicts the very nature of science. In doing so, he also explains such concepts as underdetermination of theory by evidence and theory-laden facts. Supporting examples include: gravitational lensing, the Big Bang, the red shift, cosmic background radiation, the Tower argument, and so on.
