LAW OF REFLECTION

The law of reflection states that:

👉 The angle of incidence is always equal to the angle of reflection.

📍 Key Points

Incident Ray → The ray of light that falls on a surface.

Reflected Ray → The ray of light that bounces back after striking the surface.

Normal Line → An imaginary line drawn perpendicular (90°) to the surface at the point of incidence.

Angle of Incidence (i) → The angle between the incident ray and the normal.

Angle of Reflection (r) → The angle between the reflected ray and the normal.

👉 Law: ∠i = ∠r

✨ Additional Notes

The incident ray, reflected ray, and the normal all lie in the same plane.

Reflection can be of two types:

Regular Reflection (from smooth surfaces like mirrors – clear image forms).

Diffuse Reflection (from rough surfaces – no clear image).

🔎 Example

If a light ray hits a mirror at 30° with the normal, it will reflect at 30° on the other side.
