The Neuroscience of Memory

Little was known about the brain’s memory mechanism until 1953 when an epileptic patient, "H.M.," underwent surgery that damaged his hippocampus. This lecture examines the tragic case, and how it led to the discovery of diverse memory systems and the brain regions underlying them.
