Silent Walkaround: One of Our Favorite Turbo Buick Builds | Full Story In The Description
I’m trying something new…
I just made this new video to showcase one of my favorite cars we’ve ever built — and this one goes all the way back to 2020.
This car is a staple in the heartbeat of our business. I’ve never really shown everyone how nice it is up close, so here’s your opportunity to check it out.
The back story 📖
We purchased this car back in 2020 out of New York for our client Mr. Caponi. He was looking for a low-mile beauty, and we found him one. It had about 28k original miles at the time, and today it has around 34k-ish miles.
Each year, he comes back for small budget upgrades. sometimes it's $3k... sometimes it's 🤫- we won't tell Emily.
I guess Mr. Caponi can’t get enough. 😉
We love that guy!
This year, he challenged us to deliver a custom audio kit.
I told him, “We don’t do custom audio… but anything for you since you’re my guy!” 😂
So we searched high and low for the perfect team to partner with. We landed on Traffic Jams out of Buford, GA, and together we developed our own custom audio kit for Turbo Buicks. Their skills are top level, but who they are as people is what earned my trust.
The sound quality is amazing.
We utilized the latest technology to make sure the audio was excellent. Even with the T-tops removed, we can still have a full conversation through the vehicle’s microphone system. The noise cancellation is phenomenal, the audio is crisp, and there’s no annoying rattling.
The kit is completely plug-and-play, and it’ll be available for any of our clients who want it. Eventually, we'll offer it on our website.
The price point stings… but if you want it done right, we can talk about pricing and timeline.
We also installed a touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, giving the car navigation, Google voice features, back up camera, and a clean modern touch while still keeping the original Turbo Buick soul.
After Traffic Jams finished the audio system, the car came back to us to get the engine bay popping for car show season.
First day out, it received an award. 🫡 As expected. 🫡
We didn’t go too crazy, but we disassembled the top side of the engine, sent parts to our local polishing team, and carefully reassembled everything.
You gotta keep me on a leash sometimes…Y'all know I like to go crazy. 😂
But we kept everything within budget. Well... Kinda. 😂
And lastly…
What good is a beautiful engine bay without the A/C working right?
The A/C wasn’t working before. Now it’s blowing 23 degrees through the vents. That’s a real dream come true ❄️❄️❄️❄️
After that, I told Mr. Caponi "We must, must, must get the body ceramic coated."
That decision led us to our new ceramic coating plug: Mr. Bam Cunningham!
He replaced the old sun-faded emblems, and we installed fresh new emblems on the car. Bam and Randy are magnificent at what they do. They spent 4 days combing over this car and made a 10-year-old paint job look fantastic.
Our vendors and partners are EVERYTHING!
We appreciate what you guys do for us, and we appreciate our clients for trusting us to do what we gotta do.
This year makes 6 years in the game for us, and this car has been in our hearts from the very start. Every time it comes back in, it gets our highest level of love and attention.
Now, performance-wise…
This car still works perfectly after 5 + years.
No leaks.
No knocks.
No ticks.
No smoking.
Magic right? 🪄
And yes, it lights the tires up. 😮💨
Check out the ride-along. This car performs just as good as it looks.
We built the performance side, and named it our Boss Package.
It’s a completely stock bottom-end engine with ported iron heads, timing chain, front cover/oil pump work, a 6262 Works ball-bearing water-cooled turbo, RJC front-mount intercooler, 93/alky + chip, 80 lb injectors, AEM 340 fuel pump, Stage 2 Janis transmission, and our custom Circle D lockup converter that we developed back in 2020.
The combination is simple, and it works.
We discontinued the Boss Package after one failure, but we’ll bring it back for the right car — specifically excellent condition, well documented, low-mile cars with healthy foundations.
We really hate putting anything bigger than a 58mm turbo on a stock crank, but this car proves that if the stock engine is in excellent low-mile condition, then the stock bottom end can handle power from a 6262.
But we gotta be careful and understand the risks with stock parts. For most people, the forged bottom-end Silk Package is still the better move.
So going forward…
What are we going to do with this car?
Ehhhh…
Mr. Caponi keeps itching for more power, but I think our work here is done. He couldn’t pay me any amount of money to further modify this car with more horsepower
It’s perfect exactly how it sits.
If he really wants more power, we’ll build him another car to play with.
This one deserves to stay clean, reliable, proven, and beautiful.
That’s wisdom talking.
Stay Boosted 🚀
