Before you begin so to give out the text, I've got something I've been 'posing to say.
Deacon how can you preach and expect to teach us folks how to be good?

And any time a thief is round, my dogs commence to howl.
I caught you fair, but you declared: 'You came to buy a fowl'.

Jasper Johnson shame on you!
You can't preach and rob me too!
You might fool me now and then,
But you don't buy fowl at two A. M.
I know what I'm talking about,
And I wants all the people here to find you out.
So they can all stand up and shout: "Shame on you!"

Oh Brudder Skinnerhorn let me try to explain, before this congregation to-day.
I'm very much surprised to see your angry passioned lies, you shouldn't talk about me that way.
Brudder! please don't abuse or ever accuse a full-fledged Christian man.
I am the Deacon of this church, and one true son of ham.
The Good Book says: 'Thou shalt not steal!' with me you'll all agree.
As I passed by that Brudder’s house, his chicken followed me.

Not only followed me, but bit me, bit me! I ain't as gwine to allow no man's chicken to bite me.
In trying to protect myself, I caught the chicken by the neck and when I laid it down it wasn't breathing, and that's the gospel truth!

That's a lie!
