FLOAT (Trailer) training - How to train a horse to walk into a float

This is a step-by-step explanation how to train a horse to walk into a float/trailer. Most horse people made the experience sooner or later to having a horse that just doesn't want to walk into the float, sometimes we might be in a hurry and want to rush the horse into the float which makes things worse. So what can you do to have a relaxed and happy horse that just walks into the float without any issues? The goal is to convince your horse that it is his decision to walk into the float and that this is a safe and good place for him. There are several methods - I prefer an approach that is based on understanding the needs/desires of a horse and respecting them. My horse Jay recently had an accident with a float (not my fault) and since then he is unhappy to walk into the float - before that I would just point to the float and he would walk in and wait for me to close the door.
