The Lorcin L-25 was the first pistol the company Lorcin Engineering Industries introduced in 1989.
The gun is constructed almost entirely of Zamak — a lightweight alloy consisting primarily of zinc, with small proportions of aluminum or other metals just so that you can’t chop it up with a butter knife. With the Lorcin’s reputation for poor function, you’re in almost as much danger behind it as you are in front of it.
The sights were pretty primitive, and the magazine release is on the heel of the grip. This was a very inexpensive, easy to conceal pistol that was available in several different finishes and configurations. The same design was also available with an aluminum alloy frame as the LT-25. Presumably, this version would be more durable.
The Lorcin L25 Pocket Pistol is notorious for being an unreliable firearm, often prone to interference and accidental discharges. Lorcin Engineering Industries eventually went bankrupt after numerous cases of guns going off and harming users, as well as the fact that the pistol is one of the most popular weapons in low-grade robberies and other crimes due to its price, less than $100.
Most guns had, on the left side of the slide, the name Lorcin in block letters with the bottom part of the “L” serving as an underline for the remaining letters of the name. Below that line was Mira Loma, CA. U.S.A. in block letters. Many guns also had the Lorcin name in block letters over the middle of a simplistic rendering of a globe on the right of the slide.
The Lorcin's with pink grips are called Lady Lorcin.
