Client-Side Proving, Privacy, and S-two

In this conversation, StarkWare co-founder and CEO Eli Ben-Sasson, StarkWare privacy PM Maya Dotan, and Ethereum Foundation co-executive director Tomasz Stanczak dive into S-two, StarkWare’s next-generation, open-source prover now live on Starknet mainnet, and what it means for the future of Ethereum scaling, privacy, and client-side proving.

They explain how S-two builds on its predecessor, Stone, why Cairo and STARK-friendly design unlock much higher throughput than traditional EVM-based approaches, and how this aligns with the ETH proofs race and zkVM benchmarks.

The discussion zooms out to the bigger picture of privacy in crypto, from Zcash and Aztec to Starknet and future Bitcoin and Zcash integrations, and why privacy isn’t a niche feature but core to human dignity, ownership, and real-world adoption. They explore protocol-level privacy, private payments and identity, account abstraction, and the potential of client-side proving on edge devices to enable new classes of applications combining ZK, AI agents, and secure peer-to-peer interactions.

Along the way, they touch on open-source tooling around S-two, the role of developers in experimenting with new AIRs and languages, and share what excites them most about the next year for Starknet, Ethereum, and zero-knowledge technology.
