Building a hollow body bass!

I've fallen in love with hollow and semi-hollow guitars in the last few years, so I decided to give this TheFretWire kit a whirl! It took about a week of work, with lots of drying time in between steps.

Overall : For $240 total in parts and a few hours of work, it's a killer axe, plus it's fully custom to my vibe! It's bouncy and beefy sounding, not quite an upright tone, but more acoustic sounding than an electric. The pickups are quite decent too, to my pleasant surprise. Articulate and nicely differentiated neck vs bridge.

Steps:
1. Check that all the parts are there, and that the things fit okay
2. Lightly sand if needed
3. Stain or paint! I used Minwax Antique Jade tint on a clear base. You can get this from Lowe's at the paint desk.
4. Polyurethane coats ( I did 4 over the span of a few days) and lightly sand between coats . I used 400 grit, then wiped with a slightly damp cloth.
5. Install the neck with some good wood glue and clamp it! Let it sit for at least 24 hours.
6. Buff the finish if you want! I found this gave it a slight shine and a smoother overall finish. Not strictly necessary.
7. Install the electronics. Most of the wiring is done outside the bass. I had to go back and forth a bit to get everything fit in there and keep connected. On a normal bass / guitar, this is WAY easier. Honestly it was the most tedious part of the build, but it's a hollow body so I knew that would be the case :)
