FIRST CHEMOTHERAPY TREATMENT | My Cancer Journey

On March 27, 2019, I had my first chemotherapy treatment. Due to the fact that my chemo regimen (R-CHOP) is so strong, the first treatment was split between 2 days.

Day 1 lasted about 2.5 hours. While I was at the hospital I received the following 3 drugs:
- Doxorubicin (also known as Hydroxydaunomycin)
- Cyclophosphamide
- Vincristine (also known as Oncovin)

Day 2 lasted about 6.5 hours and I received the drug Rituximab.

The last drug, Prednisone, I take orally at home every morning on days 1-5 during each round of treatment.

Quick explanation about the PICC line. What is a PICC line? PICC stands for Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter and is a line that goes into a vein, usually into your upper arm, and ends up in a large vein into the heart. It stays in during the entire treatment.

Through a PICC line, doctors and nurses are able to collect blood and give chemotherapy treatment; therefore, avoiding the need to be poked several times at every appointment.

However, since my treatments are only once every 3 weeks, my doctor ultimately decided that for now, I did not need a PICC line.

I would appreciate if you could all share my videos in an effort to reach more people! If you know someone who is going through cancer treatment currently, please send them the link! Even if I help just one person through sharing my journey, my mission would be complete.

Thank you so much for watching this video and thank you for your support!
