woodturning:I don't think it's cool just to glue the ears to the vase

I wanted to make a vase with ears a long time ago, but I think if just stick ears on the vase,it is too easy, I hope they are one. now I got this new tool, it made the work a little easier. The wood is peach wood. I bought it about 8 months ago, it has been dried, and there are spalted. Peach wood is very easy to crack. I coated it with Polycrylic. I don't know if it will be better.
