Walking to Osaka Castle in Heavy Rain

Osaka Castle is one of the most visually spectacular structures in Japan, with a history that dates back almost 450 years. The castle was built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi (1537–1598), a powerful feudal lord and warrior, on the site of a temple called Ishiyama Hongan-ji. One of the charms of the castle is the beauty of its stone wall with an estimated 40,000 rocks used. The moat walls stand at up to 20 meters tall and 90 meters wide. The castle grounds contain thirteen structures that have been designated as important cultural property by the Japanese government. The park surrounding the castle is one of Osaka's most popular cherry blossom viewing spots, which usually takes place in early April.
