VHS Video Capture with Time Base Correction (TBC)

VHS Video Capture with TBC ( Time Base Correction ) and software post processing filtering.

Step 1. VHS tape capture from Panasonic quality VCR.

Step 2. The same VCR with added Time Base Correction device between the VCR and computer. TBC is an advanced technique that buffers and stabilizes the video signal. The effect is especially seen on vertical structures like flagpoles or text. On this tape the effect of TBC is very clear. Look for the text and the upper right corner. On tapes in better quality the effect is not so big but always visible.

Step 3. Post processing by software including deinterlacing, light denoising and covering of "overscan area" (borders) to remove "head shifting noise". The VCR "head shifting noise" ( seen at the bottom in clip 1 and 2 ) is on all VHS captures. The overscan area is not visible when played on old tv sets that do not show the whole picture, but it can be seen on computers and newer tv sets. It looks best if it is removed.

The video is 640x480 here on Youtube, but the actual capture is PAL 720 x 576 (standard DVD resolution)
