Development of Face | Embryology
To help you learn about the facial development embryology, we are here with an exciting video on development of face, where we start off with the 4th of the Intra uterine Life, how 5 facial prominences are involved in giving the face the shape. Moving on to the formation of the nasal prominences and how they merge with other prominences to form different structures.
Next the development of the primary palate and secondary palate is discussed in detail, finishing off with the Nasal cavity. Video consists of many pictures detailed explanation to help grasp the concept of development of human face.
▬ 📌 Development of Face
A face is unique to each person and is the basis of their own identity. However, the embryological origin is the same for all humans. The development is complex and involves the formation and coordination of various tissues to form the final product.
▬ 📌 Embryo Face Development
🟢 Early in the 4th week, 5 facial Prominences appear. These are Frontonasal, Paired Maxillary ad the Mandibular Prominences.
🟢 Bilateral oval thickenings appear on the inferolateral aspect of the Frontonasal Prominence known at the Nasal Prominences.
🟢 Maxillary Prominences grow and compress the Medial NP towards the midline to form the upper lip.
🟢 Whereas the Maxillary and the Lateral NP are separated by a Groove, Naso Lacrimal Groove.
Watch the Video to watch how this Groove turns into Nasolacrimal Duct.
🟢 Eventually the Maxillary Prominences also merge to form the Intermaxillary Segment, Watch the Video to see what this segment further develops into.
Watch the Video for the formation of Labiogingival Lamina and the frenulum, and a detailed diagrammatic explanation.
▬ 📌 Development of Secondary Palate
🟡 At around 6Th week 2 projections emerge from the Maxillary prominences, which move along the tongue to merge and form the Secondary Palate.
🟡 Eventually Ossification occurs forming the Hard Palate, but the posterior part does not ossify forming the Soft Palate and Uvula.
Watch the video to understand the mechanism of action of glycerin trinitrate.
▬ 📌 Development of Nasal Cavity
🔵 Around the same time the Oronasal membrane also starts to degenerate leaving an empty space known as the Primitive Choanae.
🔵 Which eventually convert to Superior Middle and Inferior Conchae.
