Motorola XPR 7550e (UHF) & Ailunce HD1GPS: DMR Voice Comparisons

Ailunce HD1GPS has really done a good job in creating a HAM-specific transceiver — in other words...a transceiver made for HAM operators with the input from HAM operators.

As mentioned in my BLOGs (https://alfonsofaustino.blog), the only thing that stops me from using this in mission-critical ICS emergency operations is the HD1GPS’s desensitization flaw — it seems to lack a front-end filter; if it has one, it doesn’t work.

Since, Ailunce did not market this transceiver as an emergency transceiver, public safety transceiver, nor mission-critical, I won’t fault the transceiver; it was marketed strictly as a HAM transceiver.

Notwithstanding the desensitization issue, I’m very happy with the Ailunce HD1GPS for my social HAM communications; and, I’m really happy with Ailunce’s customer service — the customer service is excellent, and Ailunce is continuously making improvements to the transceiver and its CPS.

Here is a clip of the DMR voice quality of both transceivers hitting CARLA’s K6LNK DMR Repeater ~50 miles east of my location in San Francisco.

I am indoors while I TX and RX to Parrot.

The HD1GPS is pushing ~8 watts to K6LNK, and the XPR 7550e is pushing ~4 watts to K6LNK.

Check 6!
