Who will lead our next civil rights movement? You. | Adam Foss | TEDxMidAtlantic
NOTE: Adam Foss is currently under investigation by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office. For more details and TED’s response, read here: https://blog.ted.com/an-update-on-allegations-about-a-ted-speaker/
It's time for a new civil rights movement, argues prosecutor Adam Foss, but we can’t keep waiting for the next Martin or Malcolm or Rosa. Because people are dying. Each of us has to speak up and stand up and serve to protect someone who has less. Adam J. Foss is a former Assistant District Attorney in the Juvenile Division of the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office (SCDAO) in Boston, MA, and a fierce advocate for criminal justice reform and the importance of the role of the prosecutor in ending mass incarceration.
Mr. Foss believes that the profession of prosecution is ripe for reinvention requiring better incentives and more measurable metrics for success beyond, simply, “cases won” leading him to co-found Prosecutor Impact – a non-profit developing training and curriculum for prosecutors to reframe their role in the criminal justice system. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
