Brought to you by 'Racerroy'
Enjoy watching Vic Narborough assisted by Roger Coleman Start ONE of only a few remaining of its kind IN THE WORLD a Vickers Petter 2 cylinder Diesel engine, designed by Rudolf Diesel and built in 1926 by Petters,
Rudolf Diesel was born on the 18th March 1858 and died 29th Sept 1913 presumed drowned.
This engine was built in Ipswich and it pumped fresh water at a location somewhere in North Yorkshire and then stood idle for many years.
According to its current owner when he was made aware of it and its whereabouts made an approach to the owner with a view to buying it which he did.
The Engine weighs in at 9ton and the Flywheel weighs 3ton, at 250rpm it will develope 125bhp, it is mounted on a 1979 Foden and the combined weight is + 20 ton. the Foden Lorry started life as a Snow Plough & Gritter for Monmouth County Council.
While being used for demonstration the Vickers Petter 2 cylinder Diesel uses about 1gallon of fuel per-hour.
Sadly Vic the owner [the one smoking a pipe passed away Dec 2012] rest in peace.
