We arrived in Death Valley on Friday evening, April 5th, and after setting up camp we drove to Badwater to see if the lake was still there. It was still there up by the Devils Golf Course but it was dry at Badwater (well, the salt was wet anyway). We got up early this morning, Saturday April 6th, to drive home from a week of skiing at Mammoth (with a stopover in Death Valley) and driving by Badwater again to our surprise THE LAKE WAS BACK! Turns out the strong winds from the day earlier blew the water to the north and it returned overnight. Almost wanted to break out my swimsuit!
