Народный праздник Ерема – сиди дома отмечается 17 ноября 2024 года (дата по старому стилю – 4 ноября). Он так назван потому, что в этот день разгуливает нечистая сила, поэтому лучше оставаться дома, чем повстречать ее на своем пути. В церковном календаре это дата почтения памяти святых мучеников Никандра, епископа Мирского и пресвитера Ермея.
История.
Никандр и Ермей были учениками апостола Тита, который, в свою очередь, принял веру от апостола Павла. Тит посвятил их в искусство проповедования и совершил в отношении них таинство священства.
Никандр и Ермей обратили в христианскую веру многих язычников, но однажды были схвачены стражей и представлены перед градоначальником Ливанием. Проводя свой допрос, тот пытался склонить их к отречению от веры, но ни уговоры, ни угрозы не помогли. Тогда палачам было приказано совершить над ними пытки: волочение по камням, разрывание тел крюками и сжигание в печи. Никандр и Ермей постоянно молились, и Господь Бог помог им преодолеть все испытания. Тогда градоначальник приказал взять гвозди и проткнуть головы и сердца мучеников, а их тела бросить в яму и закидать землей. Они были преданы земле живыми, но Господь Бог забрал их души в свое небесное царство.
Традиции и обряды.
В этот праздник стараются не выходить из дома, чтобы не встретиться с нечистью.
На дверях дома, над окнами, на ставнях вырезают кресты, серпы и другие обереги от злых духов.
Запрещается давать кому-то свои вещи, продукты, огонь и даже угли для его разведения, особенно соседям. Существует поверье, что если поделиться с кем-нибудь огоньком или вещью, то счастье покинет дом.

During his interrogation, he tried to persuade them to renounce their faith, but neither persuasion nor threats helped. Then the executioners were ordered to torture them: dragging on stones, tearing bodies with hooks and burning them in a furnace. Nikander and Ermey prayed constantly, and the Lord God helped them overcome all the trials. Then the mayor ordered to take nails and pierce the heads and hearts of the martyrs, and throw their bodies into a pit and cover them with earth. They were buried alive, but the Lord God took their souls to his heavenly kingdom.
Traditions and rituals.
On this holiday, they try not to leave the house so as not to meet evil spirits.
Crosses, sickles and other amulets from evil spirits are carved on the doors of the house, above the windows, on the shutters.
It is forbidden to give someone your belongings, food, fire and even coals for its cultivation, especially to neighbors. There is a belief that if you share a light or a thing with someone, then happiness will leave the house.
