Aruba Ocean Villas -Overwater Bungalow "Isla Alistair" (Formerly Old Man By the Sea)

I was specifically looking for an Overwater Bungalow to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary.

I looked into traveling to Tahiti, Bora Bora and the Maldives.

Then I found this BEAUTIFUL "Diamond in Aruba" called Aruba Ocean Villas formerly known as the restaurant Old Man By the Sea (as of this date the taxi drivers know the resort as The Old Man By the Sea).
Let's make this clear...
WE WILL BE GOING BACK FOR OUR 25th Wedding Anniversary. LOL
That's how much we loved the place! We're even thinkinh about doing a ceremony and renewing our vows there.

We stayed in the "Isla Alistaire". The ONLY overwater bungalow with an OUTDOOR SHOWER, an outdoor day bed, out door tub, a special snorkeling area with two hammocks and an open ocean view. I saw this online and I knew this was the one for us.

The others are bigger...but the Isla Alistaire - Aruba Ocean Villas is by far the best most unique one. If you do not mind going outside to use the bathroom and shower..this place is for YOU. To me that made it all the BEST.

The main grounds are BEAUTIFUL. It really made me feel like I was on Gilligan's Island (which I loved since I was a little girl). The ambiance is very layed back and relaxing.

Maria Lisa and the gentleman (I forgot his name) took GREAT care of us. There is no check in counter like a typical resort. When you arrive someone (in our case Maria Lisa) took our name, took our bags and walked us to our over-the-water-bungalow Isla Alistaire. They brought the check-in/registration paperwork to our overwater bungalow.

In the bungalow there is a comfortable Queen size bed. I have back problems...but no issues in the bed. Also there's one candle, and an infuser with eucalyptus oil and lavender oil for scent. That was perfect for me. I travel with my oils and did not need to use mine.

There is also a small refrigerator. Unfortunately there was no safe for your important belongings.

There is electricity outside too. I plugged my cell phone in for music. My Pandora worked fine. I arranged for unlimited data before I left the US.

The plumbing worked GREAT. I am always surprised by the plumbing at places like this away from main buildings. We stayed in a Tree House in Costa Rica, and the plumbing there was great as well.

TIPS when staying in the Isle Alistaire Bungalow:

1. For hot water in the outside shower, turn the knob all the way to the left...then PUSH the round knob to turn the water on.

2. For the outside electrical socket to have power, you must keep the outside light switch on. The light switch is located above the sink to the right.

3. Bring some fish and/or shrimp tails from your when you dibe to go snorkeling and/or just feed the fish in the hammock pool or off the walk plank/beach.

4. To the right of the entrance walk plank lives a BIG EEL under the rock. The owner, Osyth, called him "Eely". My husband got to meet him one evening UNEXPECTEDLY...that was quite funny. LOL
5. Bring your Blue Tooth Speaker for ambiance. I personally never travel with out mine.

PROS:
Everything is gorgeous and friendly.

CONS: There is no safe for important belongings.
