Shane Wright 2021 World Juniors Player Profile | 16 Year Old Aiming For A Spot On The Team

Team Canada head coach Andre Tourigny: "He’s a hell of a player".
1. Shane Wright is aiming to become just the eighth 16-year-old to play for Team Canada at the World Juniors. The potential 2022 first round pick has put in the work to prepare for this moment and is determined to make sure his age doesn't work against him. Ryan Rishaug has more.
2. He is just the sixth player to earn exceptional status and play in the Canadian Hockey League as a 15-year-old, joining names like Tavares, Ekblad and McDavid. But what makes Shane Wright exceptional is just as much about who he is off the ice as what he does on it.
3. Team Canada head coach Andre Tourigny says 16-year-old Shane Wright, the youngest player invited to Canada's World Junior selection camp, is there because he’s a "hell of a player".
4. There's a lot of pressure associated with trying to join a list that features Wayne Gretzky, Jason Spezza, Eric Lindros, Jay Bouwmeester, Sidney Crosby, Bill Campbell and Connor McDavid, so Hockey Canada has paired the Kingston centre up with the the boisterous Bowen Byram at selection camp.
