Secret Garden - "Song from a Secret Garden" piano solo

Secret Garden - "Song from a Secret Garden"
Music by Rolf Lovland
Arranged by me

Aside from "You Raise Me Up," this is probably Secret Garden's most well known work (it first appeared on the album "Songs from a Secret Garden"). "Song from a Secret Garden" also appears to be the most covered Secret Garden piece on YouTube.

Since there are quite a few piano versions of this on YouTube, I didn't want to post another one unless I had something different to offer. The biggest difference in my own arrangement occurs around 0:58 to 1:37. This part is played in the original recording by violin and piano. It would take three hands to play these notes together. Instead, I combine the right hand of the piano part with the violin melody into a sort of rolled chord (this is fairly common in romantic classical piano pieces). I used a different camera angle for this video in case anyone is curious how I play that particular section.

Note on the trills: I omit most of the trills. There are a few reasons for this. First, Rolf Lovland doesn't play the trills on the piano part. Second, the trills sound convincing on violin, but cheesy on piano (at least when I play them).

I use the score from the Secret Garden Collection book (ISBN: 0757937063).

If you like this video, check out my previous piano solo of Secret Garden's "Heartstrings." The next piano solo I will probably post is my arrangement of Secret Garden's "Once in a Red Moon."

Thanks for watching!
