CSRIC VII Meeting - December 2020

The Communications Security, Reliability and Interoperability Council VII is a Federal Advisory Committee that will provide recommendations to the FCC regarding best practices and actions the FCC can take to ensure the security, reliability, and interoperability of communications systems. At this meeting, CSRIC VII members considered and voted on a Report on the Review and Recommendations for Optional Security Features in 3GPP Standards Impacting 5G NonStandalone Architecture. The Report will recommend updates to the 3GPP standards, compare risk and remediation expenses for 5G vulnerabilities, identify optional features in 3GPP standards that can diminish the effectiveness of 5G security, and offer recommendations to address these gaps. CSRIC VII also received progress updates from its working groups. The meeting was held on December 9, 2020 in a wholly electronic format in light of restrictions on group gatherings and travel related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
