Laguna Beach, California is nested between miles of hidden coves, impressive canyons, and over 20,000 acres of protected wilderness. This coastal town is located in Orange County, between Los Angeles and San Diego. The city was officially incorporated in 1927, although the area has been inhabited since prehistoric times. The first fossilized skull dates back more than 17,000. It was found in the area in 1933 and is known as "Laguna Woman."The tourism industry is the most important service sector in Laguna Beach, with over 6 million people visiting this beautiful coastal town every year. The city orgasnizes many annual events, like the Festival of Arts, KelpFest, organized by Laguna Ocean Foundation, and Bluewater Music Festival. A large fire in Laguna Beach in 1993 destroyed over 400 homes. The fire burned over 14,000 acres of land and is listed as the seventh-largest loss wildland fire in the US.
