Day 1: Icon of the Seas Maiden Voyage (Part 1) #shorts

Welcome to Day 1 (Part 1) aboard the Maiden Voyage of Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas!

For breakfast, we ventured outside our hotel to this cute spot called Caffe & Bottega. They had fresh, good quality food here.

We then packed up our room and basically stared at the ship until it was time to head to the terminal. We had an 11:30 embarkation time.

And then we finally took our first steps on Icon. It was so exciting and we were just taking it all in! The crew were even handing out champagne!

Then we started exploring the ship.

This is Surfside, the family area on the ship that replaced the Boardwalk on the Oasis class ships. There is so much to do in the one area and lots of eateries.

We then had lunch at AquaDome Market, the first ever “food hall” concept for Royal Caribbean. We tried 3 of the 5 stands today.

GNGR, which is Chinese, Mac’s which is Mac and cheese and Feta Mediterranean which is obviously Mediterranean. All were good quality food and the portions were on the smaller side which was great so we could try multiple stations! We will for sure be back!

We then walked through to the back of the ship to check out The Hideaway, the adults only section and Thrill Island, which features the category 6 water park. It’s crazy that this fits on a cruise ship. We can’t wait to try everything out this week.

By this time, our room was ready, so we went to check it out and we were so impressed with it. It feels very modern, there is a lot of storage, and we love our view of Central Park!

We then headed up to Chill Island to grab some drinks at Cantina Fresca and enjoy the start of vacation.

Andy then said he was “just going to look” what el loco fresh had for snacks.

By the way if you want to experience Icon the Seas, I am a travel agent and I’d love to help you. It’s free to work with a travel agent so if you’d like to get more information or a no obligation quote, please reach out!

We saw a little more of a chill island, including the swim up bar called Swim & Tonic which I’m really excited to try tomorrow and then we scouted a spot for sailaway to watch the fireworks - something special for the maiden voyage!

It was about 15 minutes and a great way to kick off sailing!

Dinner tonight was at the Windjammer buffet - it was an American Classics theme. Got a plate of random things and followed it up with a trio of desserts.

We then spent the next 3 hours watching the Dueling Pianos, another new concept on this ship. We had so much fun here! Lots of singing along, laughing, and I was so excited/emotional when they did the friends them song.

What a first day!

Follow for Day 2!
