My Complicated Relationship with Video Games (Addiction & What I Learnt)
My relationship with video games is complicated.
I became addicted to World of Warcraft at a very young age, and spent a considerable chunk of my teen years playing League of Legends. While these virtual worlds might have brought me enjoyment, influenced my creatively and allowed me to connect through the screen, I sometimes can't help wondering how my life would be different if I would've invested this time into myself.
Now as a young adult, I can no longer continue this kind of behaviour if I want to fulfill my responsibilities and ambitions. But is it possible to play games in a healthy way, that allows me to live my real life as well? Or has my history of gaming ruined any chance of that?
Since I've decided to keep playing (every now and then), I've created 3 new rules for myself so that I can make the best of my gaming experience.
