In 1940, Witold Pilecki did the unthinkable: he deliberately got himself arrested by the SS to infiltrate Auschwitz. His mission? To gather intelligence on the Nazi atrocities and build an underground resistance army from the inside.

For nearly three years, tattooed as prisoner 4859, Pilecki organized a secret network, built a clandestine radio to broadcast reports to the Allies, and witnessed the horrors of the Holocaust firsthand.
