Copenhagen - The Bicycle Snake Bridge (2019)

A bicycle ride in protected bike lanes and across two cycle bridges in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The Cykelslangen (Bicycle Snake), also described as a 'bike skyway' was built in 2014, is 220 metres long and crosses the Copehagen Gasværkshavnen. The bridge is also wide enough for large cargo bikes and for cyclists to pass each other. The gentle decline at the end of the bridge is also perfect for carrying a heavy load on a cargo bike. This bridge extends from the Fisketorvet shopping centre to ground level where you can continue on the Bryggebroen bridge. Below the Cykelslangen is a harbour front with lots of room to walk at your own pace.

The Bryggebroen bridge was built in 2006, is 190 metres long and provides a car-free connection to Islands Brygge. One side of the bridge is reserved for walking and the other for biking. This bridge is also able to open on the South side for passing boats.

Construction completed in 2006 and 2014.
